As a photographer, your creativity is your super-power. It’s what sets you apart, what draws clients to you, and what fills your work with meaning. But when your days are spent juggling inboxes, invoices, timelines, edits, orders, banking, and endless other to-dos, it’s easy for that creative spark to fizzle out. Here’s the truth: you don’t need less structure to be more creative — you need better systems. Think of systems as the scaffolding that holds your business up — so your creativity can roam freely within it. Strong systems take care of the repetitive To View More >>

Here are three photos that won’t mean much to you but mean everything to me. They explain why I love wedding albums. The first is from my parents’ wedding in 1945, a beautiful sepia print in a classic folder. Young as he looks, Dad had just returned from five years at war. The girl on the left is his younger sister. Seven years later she married the young man on the right. Like my parents they were together for 55 years. The other woman is my mother’s best friend. I remember her, but she died quite young. The other uniformed man is my father’s best friend. I’m writing To View More >>
Someone asked the other day why some photographers using Print Shop seem to be selling their prints “quite cheaply”. "I can understand that there is potentially volume in art prints that isn't there with portraits. But I still wonder how a client might feel if the price is significantly lower for an art print." I think there are a few questions here — does the difference in price matter? Are people undercharging? — and anyway, how much should you charge? I'll leave the last one for later, but meantime… 1. Why might you need to charge differently for your art versus To View More >>

And they’re fast and affordably priced! We’ve introduced the same personalisation options as we offer in our Studio Boxes (for matted prints), such as bow closures and USB inserts, and you’ll be able to add a blind- or foil-embossing of your studio logo, your clients’ names, or something unique like a text quote or a graphic, to every box you order. Lorraine contacted Nick saying that she wanted a photoshoot of her sister Janine, and to give her an album for Christmas. Nick talks about the shoot, and how he approaches photographing dogs and horses. One of Janine's horses, Kenya, had been with the family for a number of years, and Lorraine thought it would be nice to capture them together, whilst Kenya was still a fit and active horse. Of course, the other family animals, Brody the highland pony, and Jack and Louie, their two dogs, would also star in the shoot. The main difference between photographing To View More >>

Being half way across the world (literally!) I couldn’t have felt further away from the Royal Wedding two years ago. But after reading photographer Gavin Dickson’s description of the day, it transported my mind back to Westminster Abbey, and I re-lived the wonder, expectation and emotion all over again! Gavin said that at the time of the Royal Wedding he was "Chief Photographer at the Express & Star, the United Kingdom's biggest selling regional newspaper and I knew a couple of months in advance that I'd be photographing the Royal wedding in London.” Gavin was one of the few To View More >>

So you've gone to the trouble of uploading images and setting up price lists for Queensberry Print products, hoping to make some extra income for Christmas. But there's one more thing to do. Your work and images will just disappear into the lonely reaches of the internet unless you make a noise... Remember the internet is NOT like a shopping mall. People can't just walk past and see what you've got in your window. So think of Workspace like a soapbox. You need to stand up on it and draw a crowd. Not that it's hard! First, let your past clients know about the fantastic new products on offer. Give To View More >>
